I don't think the criticism about working with Intex filters is still valid. I am using this product with the 12-inch version of an Intex Krystal Clear pump that I also ordered from Amazon. I followed the instructions that came with the filter and haven't noticed any sand entering the kid's pop-up pool after a week. And the water is significantly clearer than it was with the pool's supplied pump that used disposable paper filters.
