1. Filter
At the heart of the operation, the filtering function is the primary mode of your pool pump. In this mode, water from the pool is drawn into the pump, then directed into the sand filter tank.
This sand, made up of tiny, sharp particles, traps any dirt and debris carried by the water. As the water passes through the sand, it is purified and then returned to the pool through the return jet.

2. Backwash
With time and use, the sand in the filter becomes loaded with the debris it traps, and its efficiency can decrease.
This is where the backwash function comes into play. When activated, the water flow is reversed, forcing water in the opposite direction through the sand. This ‘backwashing’ stirs up the sand and flushes accumulated dirt and debris out via a separate waste line. 3. Rinse
After backwashing, some sand and debris may still remain unsettled. To ensure this doesn’t end up back in your pool, the rinse function comes in handy. This step runs water in the same direction as during filtering but expels it out through the waste line, flushing out any remaining debris from the system.
After a brief rinse cycle, you can safely return to the filter mode without worrying about dirtying your pool.
4. Re-circulate

5. Drain

The drain function facilitates this, allowing water to bypass the filter system and exit via the waste line. This feature can also be used to completely drain your pool if necessary, for deep cleaning or maintenance.
6. Close System
Maintaining your pool’s filtering system often involves cleaning or servicing the pump itself. The close system function halts the flow of water to the pump, creating a safe environment for such tasks.
