Upgraded from a 10+ year old Panasonic Arc 3. I would use it with shave gel for the closest shave, usually in the shower.
The Arc 5 dry shave is ridiculously close and blows the Arc 3 wet shave out of the water. The head is a little large, but there are 5 blades. The head floats well (or you can lock it) and the sideburn trimmer works well. My wife was amazed at the closeness and she had that look in her eye. Haven't had enough time with the 'Shave Sensor' to see how it works, there's an easy button push to switch back to normal shave mode. I like that the power button now has a rotating lock ring. The Arc 3 did not and would occasionally get switched on in luggage. (My fault for not putting it in the included travel case) The Arc 5 comes with the same (larger) black zipper case.
Time will tell if the Arc 5 will last as long as the Arc 3.

As a longtime user of Braun electric razors, I was skeptical about using any other electric razor. I dislike shaving, but dislike being unshaven even more. This razor is, if I am being (reluctantly) objective, better than any Braun series 3 or 5 that I have owned. It will deliver 5-6 shaves on one full recharge, if you have tough beard growth, maybe longer if you are lucky enough not to need a full 8 or 10-minute shave each morning. It shaves as close as a hand-held razor blade on the first day shaving after 2-3 days' growth, so it is exceptionally effective. It is easy to clean. Just a great design.

This shaver does very well on short beards, but if you don't shave every day, it misses most of the longer hairs. You can shave in one minute, when using daily. It also misses some hair under your nose, due to the wide and flat blades, it just can't reach. A good shaver that is far from perfect.
