It Has A Ring To It
The heart of the Sennheiser HD 800 Headphone and its striking sound is the 56mm Ring Radiator transducer. It leverages the air displacement of a large speaker diaphragm without losing the rigidity of a smaller one.
The result is the hyper-fast response for superb detail across the entire frequency range. The headphone’s vibration-damping chassis and inert headband ensure that what you put into the HD 800 S is precisely what you will get out of it, too.
To obtain the most trustworthy performance right out of the box, each transducer is made, tested, and measured to the tightest tolerance. Even the 40mm voice coil is coiled in-house to assure the finest quality form and consistency.
The frequency response graph for each HD 800 S is unique to its properly matched transducers. As a result, the headset can playback even the most subtle characteristics of your music and song track.
Behind the Mask | Sennheiser HD 800 S Headphone
The challenge lies in mastering true-to-source acoustics. But this is no small feat. This entails controlling the compounding frequency clusters that cause unwanted masking effects.
A unique frequency absorber was incorporated by Sennheiser to lessen resonances that obscure amazing musical subtleties. Furthermore, aerospace-grade materials are used to place the transducer system in a chassis that reduces vibration.
As a result, the problematic energy peaks of lower frequencies are controlled to unveil the purity your hi-fi setup is capable of.

The Audiophile Sennheiser HD 800 Headphone Reviews
★★★★★ A little loose on the head but everything else 10/10

I love these. You can just tell by the feel that they're just built differently than any $500 pair of headphones.
The sound is palpably more clear and much higher quality than anything I've ever heard on a pair of headphones. And that's coming from someone who's half-deaf on a good day.
The only gripe I have with these headphones is that they are a bit loose on the head. I'm sure there's probably some reason I'm unaware of as to why this is, but it's still kind of annoying when every time I look down or turn my head fast they just go flying off.

If you’re in the market for these, you know what you’re getting. These things are absolutely legendary. Seriously, super analytical, and with the right EQ, these things absolutely shine. I don’t have much to say about the legendary HD800S that hasn’t already been said. If you’re thinking about it, just do it.

They are comfortable, have broad frequency response and great imaging.. not a ton of low-down..
★★★★☆ Yes HUGE soundstage, is it worth so much more than a 6xx series?

First of all, feels amazing to open these. The presentation is amazing. Soundstage was the best part of these. It sounded as if you were in a hallway with speakers coming from the ceiling in certain songs. Just amazing, however, the 660S (my choice) is very close to sound. Instruments are not as high or “life-like,” but it isn’t that much. Comfort-wise, a lot of reviews say they like these. I didn’t. The headband was too thin and I could see where the back of the cans could be damaged if pushed/touched. To get the MAX out of these you will need Good equipment. I am all about the best of the best, I just feel the 600 series is the all-around better deal. Mine had some issues, but World Wide took care of them immediately..
★★★★★ An absolute dream.

Could not imagine these being any more comfortable, they are like wearing nothing at all. Soundstage is bliss, it's like being in a concert hall no matter what you're listening to. They look and feel premium, which they should be for the price. Sennheiser still Hand makes their best headphones in Germany and I really like That. Overall, these are expensive, sound, and feel like they are, and if someone was on the fence: I would ask them how much they care about pinnacle sound quality, build quality, and comfort. If you know you want the best of the best headphones, these are it. Period.
