Features of 43269 Monet PRO by Masterpiece Artist Canvas

This 36×48″ canvas size follows a 4:3 aspect ratio. The Carmel Portrait Smooth canvas is made from 7 oz. raw cotton and finishes at 10.3 oz. It is carefully sized and double-primed with archival-quality acrylic gesso, creating a surface that prevents paint from seeping through and damaging the fabric.

Carmel Portrait Smooth is our 7 oz. raw, 10.3 oz. finished, cotton canvas, sized and double primed with archival quality acrylic gesso producing an ideal ground for oils, acrylics, and alkyds.
Carmel undergoes an extra process making the texture super smooth, ideal for portrait and detail work.

Premium Canvas Stretching and Frame Design for Lasting Durability and Precision

This Masterpiece Artist Canvas Monet Pro canvas is suitable for most paint types, including oils, acrylics, and alkyds. The Carmel canvas goes through an additional process to create a super smooth texture, making it perfect for portrait and detail work. There’s a 1/2″ gap between the canvas and frame, which prevents unwanted lines that occur with smaller gaps.

Masterpiece never use finger joints in our wood frames, as they can weaken over time. Instead, their frames are built to last for centuries. The patented 3.25″ heavy-duty, keyable cross braces allow the canvas to be tensioned in the middle, where it’s most needed.

The stretcher bars are slotted in the center to fit the cross brace. Thanks to the design, these braces provide maximum rigidity but can be removed if necessary. Both corner and brace keys come pre-installed.

The canvas is stretched using Masterpiece proprietary MuseumWrap method, which creates a drum-tight stretch up to 50% tighter than traditional methods, ensuring balanced tension across the surface. The corners are neatly folded and uncut, allowing the canvas to be removed and re-stretched on the same frame if needed.
